Tough and Crazy Way to End the Year
The season is over now after a well-fought game in the first round of the playoffs against the Arizona Cardinals. We lost in overtime by the final score of 51-45. I am very pleased with the way our team fought to the very end and came back multiple times to give ourselves the chance to win. The Cardinals played very well and took advantage of a few key turnovers that we made during the course of the game. Our whole team played hard, so there is nobody to blame. It was a well-played game by both teams that didn’t end in our favor. We are very proud of our efforts this year, so there are definitely no hard feelings.
After the game vs. the Cardinals, the coaches said that we played well as a team, except for a few mistakes, but they were very proud of the way we came together and fought until the very end. I am definitely happy with my role on this team. I feel like I was able to act as the veteran leader for our younger running backs and everyone else on the team. I have been playing this game for a long time, so I have been through similar games and emotional roller-coasters. I stay positive after losses like this one because our team played hard and almost won against a very tough opponent. Arizona has a lot of weapons, so we played them to the best of our abilities. Thanks to all our fans out there who came to the game or watched from home. You guys are the best fans in the NFL.
Now that the offseason is here, I am taking a few weeks off to catch up on things at home with my family and recover from the season. Basically, I am doing things that any average person would do with time off from work. I plan on cleaning up my house, moving things around in the garage, playing video games, watching movies, and watching the other NFL playoff games. I will start my workouts again very shortly to stay in shape for whatever comes my way next season. Right now, I am about 90% sure that I will be returning to the Packers next season, which would probably be my last season in the NFL. I had some very positive interviews at the end of the year with our coaching staff, so I am hopeful that I will be able to come back for one more year with the Packers. I enjoy my role on this team and I want to help out this team for as long as I can.
I have a few playoff predictions that I thought I would share, just in case they actually become true. I like the Vikings over the Saints in the NFC Championship game because I believe Adrian Peterson will have a big game. Peterson has been held under 100 rushing yards for a few weeks, so he will come out hungry this weekend. I know as a fellow running back that he will come out looking for a big game. Brett Favre has been playing some of the best football of his career recently, so I believe he will continue to lead the Vikings to the Super Bowl. The Saints are a very strong team, so it will definitely be a great game to watch.
In the AFC, I like the Colts over the Jets. Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne are way too strong of a combination for the Colts to lose. So that leaves the Colts and the Vikings in the Super Bowl. It would be Peyton Manning vs. Brett Favre- an epic matchup. I honestly do not know who to pick in this game, especially with two of the best QBs who ever played the game. I think I would just sit back and watch the game from home to see what happens…
