APPLETON — Huntley Elementary fifth-grade student Grace Molter and physical education teacher Jill Rushkofske were recently selected as the 2013 Wisconsin Student Ambassador and Wisconsin Program Advisor of the Year for Fuel Up to Play 60.
The all-school nutrition and physical activity program is sponsored locally by Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board and the Green Bay Packers, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Molter and Rushkofske have been invited to attend the Fuel Up to Play 60 Student Ambassador Summit in Charlotte, N.C., this summer.
Huntley Elementary has received more than $2,200 in funding dollars from WMMB, won several Wisconsin prizes, including a trip to Lambeau Field and workout at the Green Bay Packer practice facility with former Packer Ahman Green, a special Wisconsin Dairy Breakfast celebration for their student team and a visit from Packers receiver Jordy Nelson.
They have made several sustainable changes to help make their student body healthier, including a before-school intramural program and after-school Family Fit and Fun Run/Walk club. Students have been encouraged to make healthy food choices with events such as an annual Health Fair, milk mustache dairy event, taste testings and healthy yogurt parfait snacks after physical activity events.
