Ahman Greenís 63-yard touchdown sprint in the third quarter of Sundayís game did more than end Tampa Bayís run of 17 straight points. It landed him in the Green Bay Packersí record book as well.
Greenís score came on his 17th carry of the game. It put him over 100 yards for the third time this season and for the sixth time since coming to Green Bay from Seattle before last season.
The run was the third of more than 50 yards this year for Green. The 24-year-old had an 83-yarder in the season opener and a 61-yard effort two weeks ago in the Metrodome.
Billy Grimes is the only other Packer to have three runs of more than 50 yards in a single season. Grimes had touchdown runs of 61, 73 and 57 yards in 1950.
Green is the first Packer to have three runs of more than 60 yards in a single season. Only one other player in Packers history had that many in an entire career: Andy Uram.
Uram owns the team record for longest run from scrimmage at 97 yards. He also had a 70-yard run as a rookie in 1938 and a 61-yarder in 1941.
Greenís long run helped him surpass 150 yards rushing for the fourth time in his career. The speedster gained 169 yards on 24 carries.
Jim Taylor is the only Packer to have broken that barrier more often, having done it eight times in a nine-year career.
The one negative to Greenís performance was his fumble after he fought off numerous tacklers on his way to a 12-yard gain in the second quarter. Warren Sapp recovered and the Buccaneers drove 41 yards in seven plays to go ahead 10-7.
Through seven games, Green has gained 681 yards rushing and is averaging a healthy 5.2 yards per carry. Should he maintain his current pace, he would break Taylorís single-season team record and finish with 1,557 yards.
