Will Green Stay in Green Bay?
Monday, January 8, 2007
Ahman Green certainly knows the road to recovery, having bounced back from a torn thigh muscle to record his sixth 1,000-yard rushing season.
Green finished 2006 just 45 yards shy of Packers all-team leading rusher Jim Taylor.
Whether Green will be able to break the record remains to be seen, since he enters the offseason as an unrestricted free agent.
Green turns 30 in February, but he's hoping his productive season will keep him in Green Bay.
"I'm looking forward to next season and being in the green and gold," he said. "I'm going to take a few days off then start getting ready for next season. For our offensive line, it was huge to get a 1,000-yard rusher, and that will give us confidence for next season."
"I think he gave us all confidence, just the way he did come back from surgery, the way he continued to get stronger as the season went on. I think you have a lot of evidence right there, and I'd like to have him back," head coach Mike McCarthy said.
